AAP announces teachers’ wing for Delhi University

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced its teachers’ wing for Delhi University (DU), named as “University Teacher’s Forum” (UTF). Party’s state convener, Dilip Pandey said: “It is a pleasure to announce a teachers’ wing of AAP for DU campus.”

Currently, the AAP’s teachers’ forum has been set up only for DU and soon it will be launched for other Universities as well. The forum will engage with the teaching community following the ideology and ethics of the party. The forum will also work to weed out the prevalent corruption, nepotism and favoritism in the University system.

“It will safeguard the rights and interests of the DU teachers. It will aim to make DU a progressive and congenial place to work for everyone,” Dr SA Jafri, assistant professor of Rajdhani College said.

Jafri, an English teacher, has been anointed as first President of the UTF. In his inaugural address, he said: “The office bearers of UTF will further expand the newly-created forum in consultation with party and reach out to all the teaching staff of DU”. He further added: “UTF will also work on long term plans to strive to create additional infrastructure.” Last year, AAP had formed its students’ wing for the DU and JNU.
