AAI initiative for budding artists; Art galleries at airports

In order to promote and encourage the works of amateur and budding artists in the country, Airports Authority of India has started art galleries at its airports, an official said on Tuesday.

“The respective Airport Director will invite the amateur/budding artist for display of their art work and there after a panel will be maintained to allow the artists to display their works for a period of 15 days,” he said. The display of artists work would include sculpture or any other form of art and is not limited to paintings only, he added. On receipt of notice, the artist shall approach to the Airport Manager-in-Charge at the Terminal Building at the Airport for fulfilling procedural formalities.

The works are to be framed appropriately by artist themselves and delivered at airport for fitting and display. The artist shall be given the right to put a tag “for sale” and the art work shall carry price tag fixed on it.  On sale of the art work, token fee @10% of sale value of the painting/art work shall be payable to AAI.
