A matter of taste

A matter of taste

They aren’t kidding when they say that you need a acquire a taste for certain things. My story with sushi was just that. But a few years have passed and I would give an arm perhaps for good sushi (with a little help from my friends).

Yum Yum Tree at the New Friends Colony market is not new to the whole sushi game, Delhiites know of the place and adore it for their incredible sushi, sashimi spread. Considerably a newbie to the Delhi food circle - Yum Yum Tree was a must on my list. We tried an incredible sushi platter that had the tuna, prawn and the crab. They have a conveyer belt in the middle of the dining area and you can pick off what you want but then feel free to pick - you won’t be disappointed. A reliable source says that the vegetarian sushi platter is just as good - so the green lovers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Salads came next - the snow peas and water chestnuts salad was a fresh surprise - do try that. And do not miss their dim sum spread. The prawn dim sums are a must try - they aren’t wrapped in your regular dim sum sheets, instead in a spinach leaf. You also have a delectable crystal duck dim sum and the chicken sui mai to try too.

Take your pick off the main courses but make sure you keep space for dessert because Yum Yum Tree has one of the best cheesecakes we have ever tasted. They also have home-made ice creams in some great flavours. Do try the coconut ice cream where surprise surprise - jaggery seems to be the secret ingredient. The coffee ice cream was a favourite because of my inherent love of the bitter-sweet flavour.

'The Yum Yum Tree is paradise for all the food lovers in town. I am proud to say that we serve best food and use top quality ingredients to prepare the food,' says Samir Choudhary, Restaurant Manager, The Yum Yum Tree.

Yum Yum Tree has a great New Year brunch on offer along with a great dinner for 31 December. The dinner comes for Rs 2485 (without taxes) and the brunch is at Rs 1899 (without taxes). So before this year ends - head over!
