A festival of momos

Momo lovers have reason to cheer with the city gearing up to host a <g data-gr-id="66">momo</g> festival, which organisers claim is the first of its kind.

The festival is set to serve up a wide range of dumplings —fried, tandoori, steamed, marinated in butter, Afghani and stuffed with fillings such as vodka, chocolate among others.

The daylong event ‘Yeh Dil Maange Momos’ is scheduled in Chanakyapuri on October 4 from noon till 9 pm.

Previously organised as a ‘Momo Trail’ or a ‘Momo Walk’ in Amar Colony, the event received an outstanding response on social media, following which the organisers said they came up with the plan of organising a Momo festival for the entire city.

“We are passionate about trying new things and are always discovering best things to do in the city for our GoBuzzinga community through sourced recommendations and curated events. To engage with our community offline we organise events such that explore nooks and corners of vibrant Delhi,” says <g data-gr-id="71">Hunar</g> <g data-gr-id="72">Katoch</g>, co-founder of GoBuzzinga.

<g data-gr-id="69">Katoch</g> says the unexplored varieties of <g data-gr-id="70">momo</g> of Amar Colony in Lajpat Nagar led them to <g data-gr-id="104">curating</g> a ‘Momo Trail or Momo Walk’ for their community but they received an “outstanding” response in just a couple of days.

“And then finally we thought of making it a bigger event for the entire city and so we changed the venue from Amar Colony to Chankyapuri,” says <g data-gr-id="75">Katoch</g>.

The festival would attempt to get the best momos from the street vendors and restaurants who happen to be the partners of the organisers.

Beverages would also be served to the <g data-gr-id="65">momo</g> lovers and their evening would be spiced up with live music, live graffiti and live sessions of <g data-gr-id="67">momo</g> making for the crazy ‘momo fanatics’.

“We have only <g data-gr-id="76">momos</g> as the food item. But we are serving beverages. <g data-gr-id="101">Also</g> there will be live graffiti and live music in the evening with special classes on how to make <g data-gr-id="100">variety</g> of <g data-gr-id="78">momos</g>,” says <g data-gr-id="77">Katoch</g>.

The aim of the festival was to accommodate all the <g data-gr-id="73">momo</g> lovers, which could not have been possible through a walk at a particular place.

Stalls will be put up by street vendors and various restaurants would serve up the best and most variety of <g data-gr-id="74">momos</g> from all over the city, say organisers.

“We are currently curating who gets to put up a stall to get the best and most variety of <g data-gr-id="79">momos</g> from all over Delhi. We are starting from Delhi and wish to take it to the other cities as well,” adds <g data-gr-id="80">Katoch</g>.
