90% DU colleges flout univ norm on mentioning sports quota seats

As per the official notification by the University of Delhi, the colleges affiliated to the university had to notify the number of seats under sports quota on their website well in advance ie before the pre-registration schedule of the undergraduate programs as announced by the university.

Among the 77 colleges under the DU, around 70 of them have not updated their websites according to the official notification. They have only mentioned that the college offers 5 per cent reserved seats of the total seats share for students who have earned recognition all over India in sports for all courses.

Few of the colleges like Maitreyi in spite of an integrated online admission process, were ignorant to even update their websites that show admission guidelines for the session 2015-16, hence neglecting their responsibility towards students. Colleges namely, Kamla Nehru, Jesus and Mary, Kirori Mal and Khalsa are a few among the well-known colleges of the DU who have shown non-challance towards the university notification.
Interestingly, a “no records found” is flashed on clicking on the link of the sports quota admission on the website of Khalsa College.

With merely two days left in the culmination of the admission trials, these colleges were least bothered to notify students about the number of seats for the respective games. Meanwhile, Lady Sri Ram College has released a list of the number of seats under the sports quota stating: “It is an approximate number and may vary depending on the excellence.”

On the other hand, a few who followed the guidelines were Hindu College, Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Ramjas College, Venkateswara College along with a few of the off-campus colleges namely, Swami Shraddhanand College and Mata Sundri College.

On contacting Gargi College, an official said that the list will be uploaded  by Wednesday evening, however, till the time this report was filed, there was no sign of any list on their website.

However, on late Wednesday evening a few of the colleges started uploading the list of number of seats under the sports quota which again is a late move.
