70-year-old woman found dead

In a bizarre incident, a 70-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house at Adarsh Nagar area on Tuesday night. Her son alleged that some of the gold ornaments that his mother wore were missing.

Police, however, deny any foul play and insists that she died due to arterial blockage in the heart.

According to the police, deceased, identified as Rewati Devi, was lying on the bed when his son Neeraj reached home from Alwar, Rajasthan. He had gone to Alwar a day ago.

He immediately rushed his mother to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini Sector VI, where Rewati was declared brought dead. The hospital authorities had informed the police about Rewati’s death considering it to be suspicious.

'Neeraj had gone to his in-laws house in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Monday. When he returned home at around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, he found his mother lying motionless inside the house,' said Meenu Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest).

A post mortem conducted on Wednesday confirmed that Rewati died due to arterial blockage in the heart. She had died at least 36 hours before her body was found, but there were no injury marks, Choudhary added.

She, however, did accept that police are investigating claims of robbery at the Adarsh Nagar house. 'Neeraj claims that his mother’s gold bangles and other articles are missing. We are looking into the matter,' said Choudhary.
