6 TMC workers killed since poll announcement: Mukul

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy on Friday met the officials of the Election Commission urging them to take steps to arrest those who have killed six party activities after the notification of the elections. Roy said that he will stage sit in demonstration in front of the Commission's office with the dead bodies if there is another repetition of such incident.  He said that after the notifications of the election, six Trinamool Congress activists had died in the hands of CPI(M) backed goons, but not a single arrest was made in this connection so far. As the EC is looking after law and order situation in the state, it must take some steps to book the culprits. After the notification of elections, police administration works under the EC and hence it should ensure that there are no such incidents.  "Six of our party activists have been killed by CPI(M) goons so far after the notifications of the Assembly elections. CPI(M) backed goons are unleashing terror, killing our party men in different areas but the Commission is yet to take any action against them. The EC must ensure that the peace prevails in the state, "Roy said.  He added: "If another of our party supporters dies in the hands of CPI(M) goons we will stage demonstrations against the EC with the dead body of the victims." Meanwhile, the EC is yet to execute over 18 thousand non bailable warrants in the state. When asked about why these cases were still pending, Sarkar said that some cases were sub-judice and hence Commission can do nothing in this regard.
