6 robbers involved in cases of dacoity, car-jacking held by Special Cell

Delhi Police Special Cell have arrested six notorious robbers who were involved in nine cases of dacoity, robbery and car-jacking. Two semi-automatic pistols of .32 bore with 12 live cartridges, three country-made pistols .315 bore with 14 live cartridges, one robbed Swift car and a Discover motorcycle have been recovered from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Hitender Singh Rawat, Deshraj, Shakil, Rajkumar, Ramratan and Shimaam. According to police on June 6, a dacoity took place near Netaji Subhash Place. The complainant was carrying cash worth Rs 20 lakh from Khari <g data-gr-id="44">Bawli</g>, Delhi, <g data-gr-id="45">alongwith</g> two other workers in a Swift car to the residence of his employer. As they reached near Netaji Subhash Place, another Swift car suddenly overtook them and stopped just in front of them. One of the assailants broke the window pane of the car with a hammer and another one opened fire at the <g data-gr-id="40">car</g> but none <g data-gr-id="38">were</g> injured. 

Meanwhile, three other persons came on a motorcycle and fired a shot. All the three occupants of the car (victims) managed to run from the spot. The robbers took out the cash kept in the car. Before leaving the spot, they fired at a motorcycle rider and forcibly took his motorcycle. The bullet hit the rider in the leg and he was badly injured.

After the incident, sources were deployed in and around Delhi. On September 23, a <g data-gr-id="37">tip off</g> was received that two of the robbers — Hitender Singh Rawat and Deshraj, who had jumped their respective parole granted in a murder case that took place in 2007, would be coming to Dhaula Kuan from where the duo accused were arrested. The accused Hitender was subjected to extensive interrogation wherein he disclosed that he was lodged in Tihar Jail for the last seven years and used to come out of the jail on parole at regular intervals. Lastly, he was released on parole in April, for a period of one week but he jumped the parole.

Subsequently, during the sustained interrogation, he also disclosed that the other gang members are also operating in Delhi and NCR. 

The gang members had also robbed numerous persons by drugging them. At this information, four other gang members, namely Shimaam, Ramratan, Shakil and Rajkumar were apprehended near Batra Hospital, Delhi. Further investigation is underway, police said.
