6 Lok Sabha MPs elected to AMU court

Six Lok Sabha members, including four BJP legislators, one among them Muzaffarnagar-riots accused Kunwar Bhartendra Singh, have been elected to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) court, the supreme governing body of the varsity.

The new members have been elected for a period of three years commencing from December 19 last year, a notification issued by the university said on Wednesday. Those elected include Kunwar Bhartendra Singh, Satish Kumar Gautam, Rajveer Singh and Bhola Singh of BJP, Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser of LJP and Badaruddoza Khan of CPI(M). Gautam is Lok Sabha member from Aligarh constituency while Rajveer Singh is son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh.

Singh belongs to Aligarh and has been elected to Lok Sabha from neighbouring Etah parliamentary constituency.
