6 held, cops claim to solve Civil Lines double murder

The Delhi Police have apprehended six persons, including two juveniles, for the alleged murder of two security guards and burglary at United Christian School in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area in the wee hours of July 15, police said on Saturday.

The police did not disclose the names of the juveniles, while the four others have been identified as Pawan Kumar, Chanderpal, Tinku and Dawood Khan.

According to the police, while one of the juveniles was found to be associated with the school, Pawan – the alleged mastermind in the case – and Chanderpal are history-sheeters. As many as 24 cases registered have been registered against the duo across the national Capital, said a senior official of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

Police said the six accused, who were facing a financial problem, met around 1am near Kashmere Gate ISBT in the wee hours of July 15 to discuss the plan-of-action. The juvenile who was associated with the school allegedly suggested that they should carry out a burglary at the school as he was familiar with its topography and layout. The gang agreed to carry out the burglary, police said.

They first scaled the school’s rear wall and, in the process, broke the steel water pipes of the adjoining school. They, then, noticed the two guards sleeping on the school premises. But they were determined to continue with their plan and one of the security guards woke up.

The six of them allegedly attacked the guards with iron rods and a stone slab till died. The accused allegedly tied their limbs with the wire of a potable fan and decamped with Rs 24,000 and a few mobile phones from the school principal’s drawer.

The mobile phones of the deceased and SIM cards, which played crucial role in cracking the case, were also recovered from the accused.
