58-year-old woman murdered in Kasba

A 58-year-old woman was killed at her residence at Naskar Para in Kasba on Monday night, police said. 

An officer said the victim Kamala Rajbangshi used to stay in the house with her daughter-in-law. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that someone well know to the victim went to her residence on Monday night. 

Rajbangshi had offered tea to the person. When she went inside the kitchen after serving the tea, the accused followed her and hit on the back of her head with something heavy item. 

After around an hour of the incident, the victim’s daughter-in-law returned from private tuition and found Rajbangshi lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen. 

Local people rushed inside the house hearing the cry of the victim’s daughter-in-law. 

They informed the police who reached the spot and took away the body for post-mortem. 

When police reached the spot, they found valuables strewn all over the floor. Police suspect that the accused had searched for something in cupboard and some cash was also stolen. 

Officers from the homicide section of the city police’s detective department went to the spot. 

Sniffer dogs were also taken. But the police are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.              

Preliminary investigation revealed that someone well known to the woman was behind the crime. 

During investigation, police found a cup of tea and a water bottle on a table. Finger prints experts visited the spot. 

Police spoke to the victim’s relatives, but they failed to provide any clue whether she had rivalry with anyone.
