55-year-old found murdered in Usmanpur

A 55-year-old man was found murdered at his rented accommodation in North-East Delhi’s New Usmanpur area on Thursday night. The victim, identified as <g data-gr-id="21">Mumtaj</g>, was allegedly strangulated, police said.

The neighbours said they sensed foul smell emanating from Mumtaj’s house around 10 pm and informed the police. When the police officials reached the victim’s house, they found him lying in his rented room with strangulation marks on his neck and injury marks on his body.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. However, personal enmity cannot be ruled out, police said.

A case of murder has been registered against unidentified accused under relevant sections of the IPC at the New Usmanpur police station. Police have started the investigation and are waiting for the autopsy reports.
