5-year-old injured in crude bomb blast

A 5-year-old boy from Rampurhat in Birbhum sustained burn injuries after he picked up a crude bomb which was lying on a field, mistaking it for a ball. He is undergoing treatment at the Rampurhat District Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical. Police are yet to arrest the culprits who had kept the bomb there. The incident happened when the victim, Bapon Seikh was playing in a field adjacent to his house at Bagtui village under Rampurhat district on Saturday morning. Police said that the boy found the bomb lying at one corner of the field and picked it up. As soon as he touched the bomb it went off and severely injured him. Bapon’s family members rushed to the spot after they heard the sound of the blast and found him writhing in pain. They rescued him and took him to the Rampurhat District Hospital.
