5 teachers of Purulia to be awarded Shiksha Ratna

This Teachers’ Day, five teachers from Purulia district will be awarded by the state government with ‘Shiksha Ratna’. Three head teachers of higher secondary schools and two teachers of primary schools from Purulia will receive the award, which has already inspired many others to devote their life for education and upbringing of students. In Purulia, this Teachers’ Day is something special as the teachers, elected to get the award were popular among the students as well as the guardians. “The birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, on September 5, is observed as Teachers’ Day in India. The day brings back joyous memories to those who have already crossed the doors of schools, colleges and universities. It is really nice to know that the head master of my school will get the award,” said Rahul Majumder, a former student of Shri Aurobindo Vidyapith. The district education department informed that three head teachers – Subhasis Guha Niyogi of Shri Aurobindo Vidyapith at Duduk, Kalu Kuiri of Dimdiha High School and Ajit Kumar Mahato of Belma Sri Sri RN High School are set to get Sikkha Ratna awards. Two other teachers from primary schools – Bhutnath Hazra of Baghmundi Pratap Primary School, Shibshankar Mahato of Khatkari Primary School – will also be awarded. The Primary school teachers mentioned that the awards have upped their responsibilities.
