48-year-old’s charred body found at her residence

A 48-year-old woman, wife of a Central government officer, was found charred to death in her residence in South Delhi’s RK Puram area on Thursday evening. She allegedly committed suicide as a note written in Tamil has been found. 

The deceased has been identified as Jay Lakshmi, a native of Tamil Nadu. She was residing in Sector 1 in RK Puram with her husband and their son. Her husband works with Central Public Works Department while her son is an engineer in Gurgaon.

On Thursday afternoon, when her son came home, he found the house locked from inside and his mother was not opening the door. With the help of neighbours, he broke open the door and found the charred remains of her mother. A suicide note was also lying near her body. He immediately informed the police who reached the spot. Investigation is underway, a police official said.
