45-year-old sentenced to death for wife-son murder

A 45-year-old man, Lakhhi Adhikari has been sentenced death penalty by Arambag Sub-divisional court on Sunday for killing his wife and his six-year-old son. Lakhhi a resident of Pursura village in Hooghly committed the crime on June 2012. He killed his wife Surekha Adhikari and son Sujay Adhikari by slashing them with a sharp weapon. The accused had fled from the house after committing the crime. On the basis of the complaint lodged by Surekha’s family members, the police started a case. After conducting a investigation police had arrested Lakhhi few days after the incident on the charges of killing his wife and the son. The court convicted him on Friday. Surekha’s family members were present at the hearing and were happy with the verdict.
