4.26 crore mobile connections in city against 1.70 cr population

Delhi added well over 21 lakh mobile connections in 2013, taking the number of subscribers to a whopping 4.26 crore, as per Delhi government statistics released on Tuesday.
The number of mobile connections in the city has reached 4.26 crore against its population of around 1.70 crore, implying that on an average every Delhiite has more than two phones.
The number was 4.04 crore in 2012-13, which has increased by 21 lakh to reach 4.26 crore in 2013-14.
The number of mobile connections in the entire country is estimated to be more than 93 crore. In 2009-2010, the number of connections in Delhi was 2.82 crore. The number of fixed line phone connections in Delhi has also seen a steep rise from 29.63 lakh in 2012-13 to 31.04 lakh in 2013-2014.
