40-yr-old man arrested for sexually harassing minor girl

A minor girl was allegedly being sexually harassed in the house of a relative at Maniktala on Sunday morning. Police arrested a 40-year-old man based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s relatives. Police said that the girl, who is originally from Bihar, came to spend her summer vacation in one of her relative’s house at Maniktala.

The accused, who resides in the adjacent house, went inside the room where the girl was having food and harassed her sexually. Everyone came running inside the room hearing her cries for help and caught 

the man. Some local youth beat him up. Police rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was immediately arrested.

They took him to the police station. Sources said that he had confessed his crime when interrogated in the police station. It is learnt that the mob had even attempted to ransack the accused’s house. But the police brought the situation under control by dispersing them. A police picket has been posted in the area.

It may be mentioned that this is the third incident of attack on women in the past few days after Salt Lake. A few days ago a girl was molested at Salt Lake and a woman was gang raped in a moving car.

One person in connection with the gang rape of a woman in the moving car is still absconding.
