4-yr-old girl found dead in Jamia Nagar, foul play not ruled out

A four-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the banks of Yamuna in Jamia Nagar on Sunday. The police have not ruled out sexual assault after abduction but waiting for the post-mortem report. The girl had gone missing on the wee hours of the day and her parents, who live at a JJ cluster in Batla House, were frantically searching for her.

Around 12 pm on Sunday, some workers, who were reportedly working on a transformer near the river bank on the eastern fringe of Jamia Nagar, noticed a human arm near the opening of a large drain. When they pulled the arm, they discovered the body of the four-year-old girl and raised an alarm. Locals gathered near the spot immediately and, meanwhile, it emerged that a couple were looking for their four-year-old daughter whom they hadn’t seen since morning around 5 am. “The JJ cluster is not safe at all for the children,” said a local.

The couple identified the body and, meanwhile, the police control room was called up. The police reached the spot and rushed the girl to a hospital. The girl was declared brought dead and her body was immediately sent for a post-mortem examination. “It is only after we receive the post-mortem report, we can ascertain the actual cause and time of death,” said a police official.
