4 TMC workers killed in bomb blast

Four Trinamool Congress workers including a panchayat member of the party were killed and three others injured when some miscreants hurled bombs at them at Jainpur village of Kaliachak in Malda on late Sunday night.

Three members of the bomb disposal squad of the Criminal investigation Department were injured when they reached the spot where some crude bombs were stored on Monday morning. All three CID personnel were taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Two of them, Bishuddhananda Mishra, Subrata Majhi died in the hospital on Monday night and the condition of the remaining one is critical. The incident had prompted the senior police officers in the district including the police super to reach the spot.

A huge contingent of police force was swung into action to bring the situation under control. The incident had triggered tension among the villagers. Police were conducting search to nab the culprits.

Kalam Seikh, Israil Seikh, Suku Seikh and Simu Seikh sustained splinter injuries when the miscreants hurled bombs at them. They were taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital where they were declared brought dead.  The incident happened on Sunday night when they were sitting outside a house. Saddam Hossain, another victim who suffered injury has been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Five persons were also injured in the accident some of whom were admitted to private hospitals in Malda.

Sohail Rana, nephew of deceased Kalam Seikh said that some local Congress leaders could have been involved in the incident as there was a quarrel between the two groups over an incident in which a Trinamool Congress supporter was badly beaten up by Congress backed goons. They also set the house of the victim on fire.

District Trinamool Congress president Moazzem Hossain said that the incident was pathetic. The incident could have been a fall out between two groups initially which had later turned political as Congress backed goons had attacked a Trinamool Congress worker.

When some of the Trinamool Congress activists protested against the incident they were attacked by the miscreants.
