4 students injured after roof of tutor’s house collapses

Four school students were injured when a portion of the roof at the house of their private tutor collapsed suddenly.

Police said that the victim girls were students of Class VII. On Thursday morning, they went to Srikrishnapur village under Nandakumar police station to take private tuition from Gourishankar Maity.

At that time, the four students went to the roof of the first floor. A portion of the roof suddenly collapsed and the students received serious injuries.

The victims were taken to Tamluk hospital where they have been undergoing treatment.

All the victims – Sapna Bhowmik, Pritilata Pradshan, Barsha Bakshi, Sweta Bhowmik received injuries on their heads and hands.

After seeing the incident, the local people rushed to the spot and rescued the girls from under the debris and rushed them to a hospital. Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. 

The local people told the police that as it was an old building the roof collapsed when the students were 
jumping and running on the roof top.

In another incident, around five passengers – who were travelling in a private bus – were injured 
after the bus hit a divider while trying to overtake another bus.

The incident occurred at Box Bridge area of New Town on Thursday evening.

Eyewitnesses said that the bus which was trying to overtake another bus lost control and hit the divider.

The bus driver applied sudden brakes and the vehicle stopped with a huge jerk as result of which, 
some of the passengers who were travelling in the bus have been injured in the incident.

As soon as the bus stopped, the passengers got panicked and de-boarded the vehicle. Police interrogated the drivers of the vehicles in this connection.

The local people told the police that the accident occurred as one bus sped up to overtake another bus.
