3rd cut-off list: DU colleges may see dip in percentage

Even after the second admission list, the percentage cut-off in several evening colleges are still high. The evening colleges had announced between 2 and 2.5 per cent lower cut-offs in their second cut-off lists. However, for the session of 2016-17 these colleges had announced 1-4 per cent inflated cut-offs from the previous years.

According to the admission in-charge of several evening colleges, with the release of the third-cut off the applicants will move towards the evening colleges as the seats in various morning colleges have almost been filled.

“We are getting a good response and students are queuing up for admission in many subjects but we have still almost 500 seats open for the admission to B Com honours courses,” Prashant Kumar, Principal of Shri Aurobindo college said, adding: “We are hoping better response after the release of the third cut-off list.” According to the admission record, DU’s Dayal Singh college (evening) has only admitted 100 students and the college is likely to release a lower cut-off.

For B Com honours courses other evening colleges like the Motilal Nehru College had released 96 per cent cut-off for the admission under the first list and only a marginal dip was seen in second cut-off. After the second cut-off, Shyamlal College, Aurobindo College and Satyawati College pegged their cut-off was at 94%, 93% and 92% respectively.

However, even in these colleges, getting admission in BA, B Com honours and English honours is little tough.Thousands of students with fingers crossed are waiting to see a considerable dip in the third cut-off. After the release of a high cut-off in the Ambedkar University, thousands of students are worried for their future.
