35-yr-old killed by speeding mini truck

A 35-year-old man,  who worked as a security guard, was mowed to death by a speeding mini truck at the Subhash Nagar road in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar area in the early hours of Wednesday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Matibul.

Investigators said that in the CCTV footage accessed by them from the spot where Matibul was found, they saw that the errant driver stopped the vehicle, got down and saw Matibul and then fled from the spot. Police said that the driver who is yet to be identified is still absconding.

Police said that the incident was reported to them at around 6.40 am on Wednesday that a man is lying in a pool of blood at Subhash Nagar road.

Sources said that during investigation, when local police scanned through the CCTV footage of the spot, they found that Matibul was hit by a speeding mini truck at 5.40 am. Lying on the side of the road for one hour, nobody came to his help. Moreover, instead of offering help, one person allegedly took away Matibul’s cellphone. It was only when an auto driver stopped by and made a PCR call that Matibul was rushed to DDU hospital.

Investigators said that Matibul, a native of West Bengal, lived in the Tihar village on rent. He worked in the day as a rickshaw puller and worked as a security guard at night. His family has been informed, police said.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Hari Nagar police station against unknown person. Efforts are on to nab the accused at the earliest.
