35-year-old man with criminal background murdered by rivals

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by his rivals right outside his house in South-west Delhi’s Chhawla area. Police said that they found his body metres away from his house at an isolated spot on Monday morning. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar. Senior police officers of the South-west said that a case has been registered and investigation is underway.

The incident took place at around 10 pm in the Ghuman Hera village where Vijay used to live with his family. Late on Sunday night, he received a call from an unknown number wherein the caller was asking him to come outside his house.

Sources said that Vijay is a criminal and several cases of molestation and sexual assault are registered against him. However, his family said that Vijay was a cable operator.

On Sunday night, when Vijay went outside, two to three persons, all unidentified, allegedly started arguing with him. Within a few minutes, the accused whipped out their pistols and started firing at Vijay.

Police said that Vijay suffered three bullet injuries, one at his eye, one on his head and the other on his stomach.

It was only when a local spotted Vijay lying in a pool of blood at an isolated spot few metres outside the village that he informed the police, who in turn informed Vijay’s family.

Police said that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Chhawla police station. They are scanning the CCTV footage of the vicinity to establish the exact sequence of events. Sources said that police have identified a few persons and are questioning them.
