32 held for drinking in public

As many as 32 people have been arrested by the Excise department of Delhi government for drinking liquor in public places in Delhi.
“The department has arrested 32 people for consuming liquor in public places in last two days. Although 15 were arrested on November 16, 17 people were held on November 17,” a senior government official said. The Delhi government said it has decided to strictly enforce the Excise Act under which consuming alcohol at public places attracts a fine of Rs 5,000, which can even go up to Rs 10,000, with a jail term of 3 months if the offender creates nuisance
