A 31-year-old widow was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old placement agency owner in a moving car in South-East Delhi on late Monday. To save herself,  she jumped out of the car near Dhaula Kuan area. The accused, who is known to her, has been detained by the police.

According to police, the incident took place on late Monday when the victim, along with three of her friends including the accused, were returning home from a party in South-East Delhi’s Hari Nagar area. The victim told police that in the mid-way, her friend, who is known to her for the past few years, raped her in the moving car.

She also told police that at the time of the incident, two other persons were also present in the car.  Despite several attempts to save herself, she was raped by the accused. She jumped off the car as soon as she managed to unlock the rear door.

In her statement, she told police that after she jumped off, the accused stopped the car to search for her, but she managed to hide.

After they left the place, she came out and from Dhaula Kuan, she hired an auto-rickshaw and managed to reach her residence in Dhakshinpur area in South-East Delhi.

On Tuesday morning, she approached Ambedkar Nagar police station and narrated the ordeal. Based on her statement, she was taken to the hospital for the medical examination that confirmed rape. Accordingly, a case under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and investigation was conducted.

Later in the evening, the accused was detained from his residence in Hari Nagar area. However, he told police that he is innocent and the woman is taking revenge by slapping rape charges against him.  He also told police that on Monday night, while he was dropping her in his car, a heated argument took place between the duo and he slapped her.

In anger, she jumped from the car and in the morning he came to know that the woman had accused him of rape.
