31 expectant women admitted to hospital after wrong treatment

Thirty one expectant women were admitted to MJN Hospital developed labour on Tuesday morning.

Later, three of them were shifted to ICCU. Relatives of the patients alleged that they had been administered injection following which they developed such problem. 

The hospital superintendent had set up an inquiry committee to probe the matter. 

The relatives of the patients on Tuesday staged demonstration in front of the hospital demanding action against the doctors. The senior hospital authorities rushed to the spot to pacify the mob. The agitation was lifted after the hospital superintendent assured them a high level inquiry into the matter. 

Relatives of the patients alleged that the incident happened after they were administered same injection.  They expressed suspicion that the drug was expired.  

Apart from three patients, who were shifted to ICCU, the others were stated to be stable now.  The hospital superintendent and chief medical officer held a meeting following the incident. The committee has been interrogating the doctors and the attending nurses. 

They were asked to present the sample of the injection before the investigating committee.  

A senior official at the hospital said that action will be taken against those who will be found guilty.
