30-yr-old woman found dead in Vasant Kunj area, gang-rape suspected

In yet another incident of heinous crime committed against women in Delhi, a 30-year-old married lady was allegedly gang-raped and then killed, after which her body was dumped at the DDA nursery in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj.

The incident was reported at around 8.20 am on Saturday after a security guard spotted the body of the woman in a semi-naked condition. By the evening, the investigators stumbled upon some vital clues which hint at the possibilities of the crime being committed by two to three of her friends in particular.

However, the police did not disclose their identities as, according to them, this would affect the investigation. It also emerged that when the woman didn’t return from work till late night on Friday, her husband had registered a missing complaint with the police.

“The body was found behind the bushes with hands and legs tied with clothes. Prima facie evidences suggest that she was killed after being gang-raped,” said a police official. He further added: “It is also possible that the victim was subjected to unnatural sex and the perpetrators allegedly inserted foreign objects in her private parts.”

A part of her dress was found wrapped around her neck. She might have been strangulated with it. Her body was immediately sent for a post-mortem examination. Things will become clear only when the post-mortem report is out, the official added. The woman lived in a nearby south Delhi locality with her husband and three children. Her husband had recently met with an accident and hence was bed-ridden. The woman was the sole bread-earner of the family and worked in the tailoring department at a south Delhi-based export company.
