3 nabbed for double murder

Three men have been arrested for allegedly killing two of their friends in June and then implanting a false story of their drowning in Munak Canal in the Samaipur Badli area, police said on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Sachin Dabas (19) of Mangolpur Kalan, Shahrukh Ali (20) of Vijay Vihar area and Deepak Sethi (20) of Rohini.

On June 9, the bodies of Yash Nanded (20) and Prince Dixit (21) were fished out from the Yamuna near Wazirabad. The victims’ families alleged murder, police said.

According to the police, the victims’ parents suspected the involvement of Ali, Dabas and Sethi for the death of their sons. “During investigation it was found that Nanded, Dixit, Ali and Dabas were friends. Ali had taken a franchise of Just Dial Company in 2014, with Nanded’s help. The business, however, could not click and was later shut,” a police official said.

He added that Nanded, along with Dixit, started building pressure on Ali to return his money. Ali was annoyed and hatched a plan with Dabas to eliminate Nanded and Dixit.

“On June 7, all the friends planned to reconcile, drink and take a bath in the Munak Canal together. During drinking, Shahrukh and Sachin included Deepak Sethi in their plan to eliminate Nanded and Dixit,” Ravindra Yadav, JCP (Crime Branch) said.

“As such, they induced Yash and Prince to drink more and themselves consumed less alcohol. After this, they threw Prince into the canal but while falling, he caught Shahrukh's leg and both fell into the canal," he said.

“Soon all of them jumped into the canal and the trio - Shahrukh, Sachin and Deepak - started beating Yash and Prince with stones. Within a short time, both of them died. After committing the murders, all the three accused hid Yash's mobile phone and made up a false story of the two having drowned while concealing the real facts from the police. They also tried to destroy the evidence,” he added.
