3 killed in gang war outside Hazaribagh court

A gangster and his two aides were shot dead allegedly after members of a rival gang opened fire on them outside the District court on Tuesday, police said.

Sushil Srivastav, convicted in a murder case and lodged in Hazaribagh jail, was brought to the court for trial in another case on Tuesday, when unidentified assailants opened fired at him, killing him and his two aides, who had also come for the hearing, Hazaribagh SP Akhilesh Kumar Jha said.

An old rivalry between the gangs of Srivastav and Kishore Pandey was blamed for the shootout, the SP said, adding that in October last year two <g data-gr-id="11">aides</g> of Pandey were shot dead and his nephew injured in a shootout between the two gangs at Kadma Market in Jamshedpur.

A hunt has been launched to apprehend the culprits, police said.
