3 Indian medical students stabbed in Ukraine, 2 dead

Three Indian medical students studying in Uzhgorod Medical College in Ukraine were stabbed by three unidentified Ukrainian nationals in the early hours of Sunday. While two Indian medicos sustained fatal stab wounds and died, the third medico is admitted to a hospital in Ukraine. 

The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that three Ukrainian nationals stabbed the Indian students – Pranav Shaindilya,  a third year student from Muzaffarnagar, U.P and Ankur Singh, a fourth year student who hailed from Ghaziabad – sustained fatal injuries and died. The third student Indrajeet Singh Chauhan, also a third year medico belonging to Agra was also stabbed but is recuperating in hospital. 

Based on his statement, the police apprehended the Ukrainian nationals who were trying to cross the Ukrainian border. Passports/documents of the three Indian students and blood-stained knife were reportedly recovered from the Ukrainian nationals. 

The spokesperson said that Indian Embassy in Kiev was informed of the incident around 1100 hrs on April 10 and has been trying to ascertain the facts.
