3 held for opening fire, trying to spread panic

Delhi Police arrested three men in connection with opening fire and injuring four people at East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area. The motive behind opening fire at the public was to create panic among the residents of the Chauhan dominated Jheel Khuranja so that the men could carry on illegal activities.

According to the police, the three accused have been identified as Tarun Dua (40), Rohit Kumar (28) and Mukesh Rawat (32). On the night of October 6, a group of 8-10 people were having a party at Tarun’s office in the Jheel Khuranja area and in an inebriated state went to a nearby restaurant where they had a scuffle with a waiter over non-payment of bills.

“Since all of them have a criminal antecedent, the waiter of the Royal Indian Restaurant had a heated argument with them which escalated into a scuffle when the waiter threw heated oil at the group of men.

“The group in turn retaliated by opening fire in the air. In the incident, a minor girl lost her kidney while an old man suffered bullet injury on his head,” said B S Gurjar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (East).

“Based on surveillance, the three accused were arrested from the houses of local dons of adjoining states like UP, Haryana and Uttarakhand. Other accused persons, Yogesh, alias Sonu, Shokender, Harsh, Rajesh, Krishan and three others are still absconding.” said the official.
