3 held for constable’s murder

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of 35-year-old Delhi Police constable Sandeep Bharadwaj in Outer Delhi’s Bawana area on Monday. The accused persons are Sumit Dabas (22), Naveen (21) and Amit (20). The victim was bisexual and used to sexually harass one of the accused.  One of the accused further claimed that the constable had tried to get close to his sisters whereupon the trio allegedly planned to kill him. 

“On September 26, at 5:15 am, PCR received information that a body was lying on Nangal Road near Hanuman Mandir. The body was lying near a silver Maruti Suzuki car which had blood stains inside and outside. It was the body of constable Sandeep,” said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Outer).

“Teams were formed to investigate the case. During <g data-gr-id="38">investigation</g>, it was found that Sandeep was last seen with three unidentified persons at a <g data-gr-id="31">dhaba</g> near Kanjhawala on September 25. One of the accused, Sumit was identified. After the incident, he went missing. The other two Naveen and Amit too were missing from the homes,” he added.

“On September 28, we got a tip off that Amit was hiding at a flat in Rohini. Based on this information, we raided the place and apprehended Amit. On interrogation, Amit revealed about the location of the other two accused. The duo were arrested from Tikri Border,” he added.

On the night of September 25, Sumit and Naveen met the victim near a <g data-gr-id="32">dhaba</g> in Kanjhawala. The duo <g data-gr-id="33">were</g> joined by Amit who took Sandeep, who was in an inebriated state, to an isolated spot and thrashed him to death. After killing Sandeep, they fled in their white Santro car.

A case has been registered against the three under Section 302 (Murder) at the Bawana police station. Police have recovered <g data-gr-id="29">mobile</g> phone and wallet of the deceased.
