3 detained for abducting, raping, shooting at 19-year-old girl

Delhi Police detained three persons on Monday in connection with the abduction and rape of a 19-year-old girl who was shot by two unidentified men as she attempted to flee from their clutches on Sunday.

According to the police, the minor girl who was abducted near her house in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area was found by locals in a well at the Salempur Gurjar village in Greater Noida on Sunday. She sustained bullet injuries on her chest and was taken to a nearby hospital.

“We detained three persons from Ghaziabad at around 3.30pm on Monday and have started interrogating them. Out of them, one knew the minor girl. Based on their statements, we are going to detain two more persons,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West). The official further added that the girl who was rescued by the villagers of Salempur Gurjar is currently in a stable condition and is out of danger. Police said that the girl is a school dropout and lives with her parents who work as construction labourers in the area. The minor went missing from Delhi on November 22 and was later rescued by the locals from Salempur Gurjar who in turn informed the Noida Police on Sunday. According to senior Delhi Police officials, the minor girl’s parents filed a missing complaint on the same night she was abducted.

On the other hand, according to the Noida Police, the unidentified men held the girl hostage in a house in Tugalpur area where they repeatedly raped her for 13 days. On Sunday, she managed to escape from the house where she was held hostage but the accused persons were able to trace her. They opened fire at her near the village and dumped her in a well. Later, villagers rescued her from the well and rushed her to a nearby hospital.
