26-yr-old raped on pretext of marriage

A 26-year-old woman has allegedly been raped over the past one year, on the pretext of marriage, at Central Delhi’s Patel Nagar area, police said on Saturday. A case under Sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC has been registered, said a senior police official. 

However, the 28-year-old accused is yet to be arrested and investigation is underway, said the senior official. In her complaint, the woman told the police that the accused allegedly raped her on the pretext of marriage for the past one year. 

On September 10, he allegedly offered her soft drink laced with sedatives and then raped her at a hotel in Patel Nagar. She also said that the accused claimed to be the zonal president of a political party and had allegedly threatened her with his political contacts, said the official.
