Sources said that the deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, while the woman has been
identified as Rita. Sources further said that Rita is married and has a son. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot, said sources.
According to the sources, Rita lived in a one-room flat with her husband Krishna and a five-year-old son in Ghazipur’s Mullah Colony. Rita and Ajay knew each other for many years. They were close friends before Rita got married to Krishna.
Even after Rita got married, Ajay kept contact with her and met her. However, for the past few days, they were going through a rough phase. Sources further said that on Thursday morning, after Rita’s husband left home for work, she dropped her son to his school. Soon after she returned home, Ajay allegedly entered her house.
After a few hours, neighbours heard a noise of someone falling on the floor. They tried to enter the house but it was locked. Based on this, they made a PCR call.
When a police team reached the spot, they opened the door and saw the woman lying unconscious on the floor while the man was hanging from a ceiling fan. Sources said that police suspect that the woman also tried to hang herself but somehow the rope snapped. Both of them were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared Ajay brought dead. Sources said that Ajay’s body has been sent for post-mortem after which the exact cause of death will be established. Meanwhile, the woman is stated to be in a critical condition.
Sources further said that Rita’s husband, Krishna was aware about the illicit relationship and had even caught the two in a comprising position in his house a few days back. Despite repeated attempts to the DCP (East), he was not available for comment.
