25-year-old stabbed to death over minor scuffle, 2 arrested

A 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in the Haiderpur area in North-west Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh over a trivial issue on late Monday night.  According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Shamsuddin. Senior police officers of the North-west district said that they 
have arrested Guddu and Suraj, accomplices of the main accused. However, the main accused, Mohit is still on the run.

Police said that on Monday evening, Mohit along with two of his friends allegedly stabbed Shamsuddin with a sharp-edged weapon after their heated argument escalated into a scuffle.

The investigating officer said that the Shamsuddin lived with his family in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area but he also had a jhuggi in Haiderpur, where he came often. The heated argument started after Mohit accused Shamsuddin of allegedly slapping his younger brother Narendra and fighting over small issues.

Police said that they are trying to ascertain who among the three accused stabbed Shamsuddin. Mohit is on the run. Police further said that Shamsuddin often used to pick up fights and cases of physical assaults and robberies were registered against him.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Shalimar Bagh police station. Further investigation is still on.
