24-year-old man shot dead in Taltala

A 24-year-old man Ashik Biswas was shot at by some unidentified miscreants at Taratala on Friday afternoon. 

Police said the miscreants came on a motor cycle and shot him from a close range. The victim fell on the ground after he received two bullets in his abdomen. After the incident, the local residents took him to a nearby hospital. According to the primary investigation, police suspect that an old rivalry could have led to his murder. They were conducting raids to arrest the culprits. According to information, the miscreants fled from the scene after the incident.

In a separate incident, mystery shrouds the death of a college girl whose body was recovered from a pond inside the NRS Medical College and Hospital on Friday. Police said that the victim was a first year student of Surendranath Women College. Some hospital staff members on Friday morning found that body floating inside the pond. The matter was informed to the nearest police station. Later, policemen reached the spot and recovered her body. Police came to know that the victim’s father is a group D staff of the hospital. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide by jumping into the pond. 

Police have started an investigation. They were also investigating whether there was any foul play behind her death.
