23-year-old from Ladakh wins unopposed as the president of DU’s LLM section

The election for the post was scheduled on Friday along with the DUSU elections. Since her opponent had pulled out his nomination at the last moment, 23-year-old Padma Lhadol was declared the president of the LLM section of the Law Faculty.

Speaking about the agenda of her presidentship, she said: “One of the important demands of the LLM students is to allow them to appear in supplementary papers. Since, there is no provision for supplementary papers for post-graduate students, they have to repeat one whole year even if they fail in one subject. I am taking this matter to the dean on Monday. Other then this, I will make sure that a students’ union fund is put to good use by organising seminars and lectures by calling on the legal luminaries and scholars.”

Lhadol has done her schooling from the Lamdon Senior Higher Secondary School, Leh. She had studied Chemistry  from Daulat Ram College and LLB from Faculty of Law.
