‘22-yr-old JNU attack victim off ventilator’

Doctors attending to Roshni Gupta (22), who was attacked by fellow Jawahar Lal Nehru (JNU) student Akash on Wednesday, declared her condition to be stable on Friday. Akash had attacked Roshni with a cleaver, before killing himself. ‘Roshni is now stable and has been removed from the ventilator,’ said doctors at Safdarjung hospital, where she is admitted.

Roshni had been admitted in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) after having suffered four deep injuries on the skull. Blood vessels in her brain were damaged. B D Athani, medical superintendent of the hospital said, 'The girl is out of danger. She was removed from ventilator support at approximately 6.55 pm in the evening, but she will have to remain in ICU for three-four more days.' A doctor attending to Roshni added, 'She is not able to eat yet, but we are supplying food supplements and medicines.’
