22-yr-old found hanging from tree, family cries foul

Body of a 22-year-old man was found hanging from a tree in the residential area of Shahbad Dairy in Outer Delhi in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The victim has been identified as Sudhir. He completed a diploma course in interior designing and architecture after passing out from a senior secondary school, said a senior police official.

According to the police, locals found Sudhir’s body hanging from a tree at around 2.30 am following which a PCR call was made. Police then took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police also said that Sudhir’s family claimed that he went out of the house at around 2 am and believe that he was murdered. “It is a case of suicide. However, no suicide note has been recovered from his possession. The body has been sent for post-mortem. We are following the procedure of inquest proceeding,” said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Outer).

According to the police, family members of Sudhir, along with the locals of the area, staged a protest by blocking the main road. They further pelted stones at a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus. The protest disrupted traffic in the area. According to officials, traffic was diverted from Badli towards Rohini Sector-16 and Rithala, Barawala Road due to the ongoing protest. The situation was brought under control after scores of police officials were deployed. Police said a case will be registered under sections of rioting and causing damage to public property under relevant sections of law. Protesters will be arrested accordingly.
