21-yr-old woman found dead, rape suspected

A 21-year-old woman, who had been missing since Thursday evening, was found without clothes, indicating sexual assault, at an isolated spot in Mundka in the early hours of Friday.

The victim lived with her family in Bhagya Vihar.

According to police officials, the deceased was working with an NGO based in Rajouri Garden. She had been missing since Thursday evening. Family members filed a missing complaint when the victim did not return up till late evening.

Police officials confirmed that a passer-by spotted her belongings near a plot in Bhagya Vihar colony. Later on, the passer-by informed the police and the body was discovered at a plot in Bhagya Vihar colony. A case has been registered at the Aman Vihar police station under Section 302 (Punishment for murder) against <g data-gr-id="28">unidentified</g> person.

A police official said: “We have started the investigation. <g data-gr-id="24">Post-mortem</g> will be conducted. The deceased was sexually assaulted or not will become clear only after the reports come out.”

However, police officials have not ruled out the possibility of rape. According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests that she might have been <g data-gr-id="26">strangulated</g> but the police are waiting for the post-mortem report to confirm the exact cause of her death.
