2 women, including senior citizen killed in accident

Two women including a senior citizen were killed while six others including a four-year-old boy sustained critical injuries on Thursday morning after a speeding truck hit a divider before over-turning on two cars on the other carriageway on Ring Road near Raja Garden Chowk. 

The accident took place at around 6.45 am at Raja Garden Chowk near ESI hospital when a speeding truck, allegedly in a bid to save a pedestrian (who has not been identified yet), lost control and hit her. It then rammed into the divider and the impact of the collision was such that the truck over-turned on the other carriageway and fell on two cars which were approaching from the other side. 

Soon after the accident, the truck driver managed to flee the spot. 

Three persons including a senior citizen were the occupants of the Honda Amaze car approaching from the other end and going towards Gurgaon. 

The senior citizen who was killed in the accident has been identified as Murti Devi (65), while other occupants have been identified as Tripti Garg and her class fellow Shubham Mishra. 

The other car (Maruti Alto) were occupied by four persons — Phool Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Udham Kumar, and a four year-old boy, Bhawnesh. This car was going towards AIIMS hospital.

After the accident, all victims were rushed to different hospitals where Murti Devi and the pedestrian woman were declared brought dead while others were being given first aid. During initial investigation, it was learnt that the woman was trying to cross the road and to save her, the truck driver tried to steer away that resulted in the accident.

A case under the relevant sections have been registered at Rajauri Garden police station. Meanwhile, raids are being conducted to nab the driver, police said.
