2 members of int’l drug syndicate held

Crime Branch has busted international syndicates of drug traffickers with the arrest of its two members and recovered 15 kg of pseudoephedrine along with Rs one lakh cash from their possession.  

The accused persons have been identified as Andrew (25) and <g data-gr-id="29">Elrossi</g> (26). Both are residents of Manipur. According to police, information was received that a drug trafficking syndicate was supplying pseudoephedrine to Nigerian nationals in Delhi.  

“This information was further developed and surveillance was done. When specific information was received that two members of the syndicate would come to deliver <g data-gr-id="38">huge</g> consignment of pseudoephedrine to one of its Nigerian customers at Sulahkul bus stand in Dwarka. On this, a team was formed and a trap was laid. Both the accused were arrested from Dwarka area where they had come to deliver a consignment of pseudoephedrine,” a senior police official of Crime Branch said.  

According to the police, 15 kg of pseudoephedrine and Rs 1 lakh were recovered from them. A case under the Sections 9A, 25A, 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Crime Branch.

During interrogation, it was learnt that Andrew has studied up to 10th standard. He had come to Delhi in 2010 and started a business of readymade garments. He has also worked at a call centre in Janakpuri where he came in contact with some Nigerian nationals who were indulged in drug trafficking. He was lured by the quick and huge profit in this trade. He has also disclosed that he used to procure the contraband from his Indian contact for supply to Nigerian customers.

<g data-gr-id="30">Elrossi</g>, who had studied up to 10th standard, came to Delhi last year in search of a job and he started working at a call centre in Janakpuri where he came in contact with Andrew. He used to accompany him during the delivery of consignments of the contraband on a commission basis. Further investigation is underway, the official added.
