2 juveniles held for jewellery heist worth Rs 70L

Delhi Police have arrested two juveniles in connection with a burglary in Prashant area of Outer Delhi on Monday. Police have recovered the stolen jewellery worth Rs 70 lakh. The two juveniles have been sent to judicial custody.

According to the police, on November 5, the complainant, Vinod Goyal reported that he and his family members had gone out for shopping for a family wedding and in the meantime some unidentified people broke into his house and stole their jewellery worth Rs 70 lakh. 

He complained that the jewellery was taken out by them from the banker locker two days ago prior to the wedding function in the family. Shocked, he lodged a case at the Prashant Vihar police station under relevant sections of the law.

“Teams were formed to investigate the matter and during investigation, it was found through CCTV cameras installed near the complainant’s house that two boys were seen hanging around suspiciously. In one camera, police saw two boys roaming around the house and by deploying sources of the ‘Eyes and Ears’ scheme, these two boys were identified by students of a nearby school. 

On November 9, through a tip-off, police apprehended the two juveniles from Haiderpur slum cluster.

During sustained interrogation, the two juveniles were individually interrogated and both of them admitted to their crime. On their instance, police recovered the entire stolen jewellery.
