2 hurt as PCR van rams into them

Two persons were injured after a PCR (Police Control Room) van rammed into them in Barakhamba Road area of New Delhi on Sunday evening. The incident took place around 4.15 pm. According to police officials, the victims were identified as Hari Chand, 28 and Ajeet Singh, 48. They were standing outside a temple in a by-lane near Hotel Lalit when the PCR van hit them from behind. The police have arrested the erring driver, identified as Head Constable Mahender Singh, and booked him for negligence. Ajeet Singh used to work as Munshi with Delhi Hight Court. ‘In the evening, both were standing near the Shiv Mandir situated in Barakhamba area when they saw an over speeding PCR van was coming towards them. Before they could realize something, the van burst past two parked bikes after which the van hit them,’ said a police official. Police said that they rushed the victims to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital where they are recuperating to their minor injuries. The driver apparently lost control which resulted in the accident. ‘We have registered a case in this regard under relevant provisions and further investigations are underway,’ said a police official.
