2 held for murder of 21-year-old man

The Delhi Police have arrested two persons for the abduction and murder of a 21-year-old man, identified as Nitish Kumar, in North-west Delhi’s Wazirpur Industrial area on Saturday. The two accused persons have been identified as Santosh Kumar (22) and Sanoj Ram (23).

According to the police, in May 2014, the complainant, Bahadur Mandal registered a missing complaint about his son Nitish Kumar. In his report, he said that Nitish went with his friend Santosh Kumar to Ballabhgarh but did not return. On June 29, 2014, Nitish’s uncle Deen Mohan Mandal alleged that Nitish has been kidnapped by Santosh. Based on this information, a case was registered at the Ashok Vihar police station under Section 365 of the IPC.

“Teams were formed to trace the accused and non-bailable warrant was also released by the court but the accused remained absconding. On October 31, 2015, we got a tip-off that Santosh will be coming to Wazirpur Industrial area and a trap was laid to arrest him. He was then apprehended near the State Bank of India in the evening. The other accused, Sanoj Ram was apprehended from Janta Vihar,” said Vijay Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-west).

During sustained interrogation, Santosh Kumar revealed that he, along with his brother-in-law Sanoj Ram, killed Nitish Kumar. He revealed that in April 2014, Nitish Kumar had beaten Sanoj Ram and had threatened to kill him. This led the duo to hatch a plan to kill Nitish. Santosh took Nitish to Wazirpur on the pretext of offering a job in Ballabhgarh. They then took Nitish to an isolated spot where they smashed his head with a stone and stabbed him with a knife and fled from the spot.
