2 engineers shot dead in Bihar, Oppn raps govt

The murder of two engineers in Bihar’s Darbhanga has raised the eyebrows of many in the state, as the incident is likely to pose serious questions over the law and order situation in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ruled state.

According to sources, both the engineers of BSC-CMC construction company have been killed by Santosh Jha gang after the firm refused to pay extortion money demanded by the gang. Sources said that both were shot dead by Mukesh Pathak, a member of Jha gang.

Notably, the name of the gang was also figured in another similar incident, which had happened in Seohar, where employees of a construction firm were killed for allegedly not paying the ransom money.

Hitting out at Nitish Kumar government, senior Bihar BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav told Millennium Post that this incident is failure of law and order in Bihar. “The incidents of crime have been on the rise after the formation of new government. Such incidents are enough to believe that toll claims of Nitish Kumar has fallen flat,” Yadav said.

Talking to Millennium Post, Darbhanga DIG Umashakar Sudhanshu said, “We have got some leads and are working on it. A SIT under the leadership of DSP would be set up to nab the assailants. Also some locations have been identified where raids would be conducted.”

Sudhanshu said, “We are trying to find out the reasons of this murder and I assure you that killers would soon be in police custody.”

The engineers of BSC-CMC firm, who were constructing state highway between Samastipur-Darbhanga, were shot dead in daylight at the construction site of a state highway in Darbhanga on Saturday afternoon. Among the deceased, one has been identified as project manager Mukesh Kumar, who is a native of Begusarai, while other identified as engineer Brajesh Kumar, a resident of Dehri-on-Sone. Both were shot by several bullets by four people who came on two bikes at the spot.

All the four assailants, who killed the engineers, are still at large. While the kingpin Santosh Jha is still in jail and Vikash Jha, a key member of Jha gang, is absconding.
