2 booked for assault on police

In another case of assault on the city police, the additional OC of New Alipore police station, Mrinalkanti Mukherjee was manhandled by a young woman and an elderly person while trying to stop them from over-speeding. 

According to the police, the accused Nafisa Ali and Sanjay Diwan were driving recklessly on the Tollygunge circular road. After the police reached the spot, the Additional OC tried to stop the four- wheeler which led to the accused having arguments with the police. The duo then got out of the car and got into a scuffle with Mukherjee. Before the situation worsened, women police were called on the spot from Lalbazar which led to the arrest of the duo.

The police said that after reaching the New Alipore police station, they continued their misbehaviour and overturned a table and a chair of the police station. They were both booked on assault charges and will be presented before the New Alipore court on Sunday. The police added that both of the accused were in inebriated state.
