19-year-old found dead, drug overdose suspected

The body of a young boy, aged approximately 19 years was found in Sector 5, industrial area, Narela in north-west Delhi. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Das, resident of B7/32 Metro Vihar phase-1, Holambi Kalan in north-west Delhi.

According to the police, the boy had been a drug addict and preliminary investigation indicates that he died due to a drug overdose. There were no injury marks on the body. Police has also discovered a few bottles and syringes from the spot.

'We received a call at approximately 2 pm from a passer-by who had discovered the body, after which a team of officials was sent to the spot. The body was taken to the Babu Jagjeevan Ram Memorial hospital(BJRM), in Jahangir puri of north-west Delhi where doctors pronounced him brought dead. The body has been preserved at the hospital mortuary for post-mortem' said the police officer.

'The boy had reportedly left home on Sunday saying that he going to his friend's house and will return the next day, but enquiry at his friend’s place revealed he had not gone there. ‘After which we lodged a police complaint,’ said the boy’s mother.

According to the parents, the boy left his studies after passing class four exams and was not ready to study further. 'He never used to listen to us and was very stubborn by nature' added the mother.
'We found the upper part of the body immersed in a small pond and a syringe was also found injected on his hand. It seems that after a drug overdose the boy was thirsty and was looking for water. But we can not say anything finally before the post-mortem report comes' said the police officer investigating the case.
